In 1988, Katie Broadbent, along with her husband, Smith Broadbent, III, opened Broadbent's Food and Gifts, which became a famous and loved gift shop and home of the award winning Broadbent Ham and ham products. Ms. Katie, as she has been lovingly called by all of Trigg County for many years, not only provided a beloved shopping experience, but also first jobs for many local girls in our community where she shared her wisdom, class and high expectations. After 32 years, Ms. Katie retired and closed the doors of Broadbent's.
